June 2008 President’s Report

Welcome to the June edition of Sports Sedan Racing Action.

The final touches are currently being put on our ASSA Vic round of the VMCRC at Sandown on 25-27 July. We are still needing as many people as possible to come and assist where they can or undergo some training in key areas to see the other side of how our race meetings are conducted and those decisions we make and get handed are made. If you can help out in any way especially on the Friday, please contact your Committee so once again we can put on the best State Race meeting for both competitors and officials.

In an earlier edition of Sports Sedan Racing Action I mentioned that Bob Gill was going through a rough patch. It was great to see Bob at Sandown on the weekend once again behind the wheel of a car on a race track, even if it was the 300C Safety Car at the V8 Supercars. Bob is full of enthusiasm to get back and into racing shortly.

But like most things, good news seems to come with bad.

We all wish Barry Bray a speedy recovery from recent major heart surgery (yes he does have one after all these years!) and hopefully see him back in racing action soon. Baz has now had the pipes cleaned out around the heart. Barney had better check that this is not a side effect from the abuse of Viagra. Anyway Baz get well soon so Graeme can crash into you again!

Two life members in as many months who have been taken quite ill………..

And onto another member who is doing it tough. Kelvin Twist who is a member and better known for his Improved Production racing is fighting illness across the Tasman in New Zealand where he resides between race meetings.

To both Baz and Kelvin, the Committee and membership wishes you a speedy recovery and a return to what we all love best, racing.

We are currently trying to have a guest speaker at our next Club meeting on June 18th. All going well we will have a surprise guest to inform us all of ways to spend our money on our toys. Don’t forget our meeting will start at 8.00pm sharp at Bells Hotel in South Melbourne.

Well that’s about all "The Prez Says"

See you at Bells or the track.
Damian Johnson.
2008 ASSA Vic President.
