Well here we are, and the 2007 CAMS State Champion is ROD SMITH. After many years as runner up Rod has finally broken through for his maiden Sports Sedan Championship win. Dean Camm had it all before him but as luck would have it, it did not go his way. And a very fine third place to Graeme Gilliland, showing that you don’t need bulk horse power to do well in this Championship. Congratulations to not just the winners but to everyone that raced this year, you all have made going to the race track, fun, this year.
So now where to start? Lets head back a week or so to our club night, as you would know it was moved forward two weeks so that we could get in to FPR and have a look around with a bit of a tour of the place. It sure was a ripper night with plenty of people making the trip. I thought it was all worth while, didn’t you?
The next big race weekend for Sports Sedans is SANDOWN HISTORICS. As I write this, around only ten cars had entered. Now I know plenty of you are going to run, you have told me so, but could you please get your entries in real soon as the historic people are starting to get nervous. We have sent forms to you, I have spoken about it in the mag and the web site, I have e-mailed the other states, so there should be NO REASON why we don’t get 34 cars on the grid, should there. Thanks.
Just in case we have missed the date, its, November 9/10/11 2007.
The other event that’s happening is that Damo and a few others are heading to Mallala for the National round there on the weekend of Oct 13/14. Some ripper deals are being done to race there, $550.00 entry or there abouts, and a 15 lapper final, I believe. If you need/want more info contact Damo at
November is fast approaching and that means its AGM time. I have said before and here I go again, but I will not be standing for the top job. After four years here its time for change. I all so believe that some others believe their time is up, so maybe a good time for a fresh new look. Have a think about who you think should guide us over the next year or two, maybe it’s you???
Being an old rally boy I was saddened by the news that Colin McRae was killed in a helicopter crash the other day. After some of the biggest rally crashes that we ever saw, and he walked from, to be taken like that is hard to believe.
Well Simon Evens is just one win from his second Aust Rally Championship, but will now need to wait till Melbourne to do that. Melbourne Storm as you read this are just one win from a Grand Final, and that means to me a trip back to Sydney, Bathurst is only a few weeks away as is the Moto GP, “carn the aussies”
Ok then I think that it’s about all I have, by now you will have guessed that there was no meeting at Bells this month, but there will be one in OCTOBER, October 17th will see us back there for a meeting.
